Last night Sky and I trudged through the Super Cold to see Cat Power play @ the Showbox. Her voice was knock-you-out fantastic, but she had food poisoning and didn’t sing for too long. I’m glad we got to see what we did, though.
Today I stayed inside (home sick from work), warm and cozied up on my couch with cats and a book. I was dying for some hot and sour soup, so Sky brought over Chinese food after work (have I mentioned that I’m gaga for this guy yet?) and we watched Flower Drum Song which is finally out on DVD. After Sky left I sat at my window wishing I could go outside because it looked so nice out; that very second Sky called from outside, saying the snow was other worldly good. I gave into my urges and bundled up and we walked up to Hot Pot for some cocoa. There were huge clumps of snow falling and the trees were frozen so the snow was making these great sounds when it landed. It reminded me of a few summers ago in SF when it was unnaturally warm: people were all over the place that evening enjoying the 90° night. Tonight Capitol Hill was full of people in scarves and mittens, throwing snowballs and taking pictures. I’ve never seen my neighborhood so crowded. I got home and had a message on my voicemail from the front door buzzer – some coworkers who live nearby had wanted me to come out and play. Alas, my body is cold and I’m fighting a sick, so it’s bedtime.
I want to hug and kiss everyone I see right now. It’s kind of insane in a really great way.

November 30, 2006guys who bring chinese food are automatically better than their non-chinese-food-bringing counterparts, though i bet yours is awesome in lots of other ways.

November 30, 2006I saw cat power a few years ago–I think at the Showbox… hmmm. Anyway, she was great then, too. I also saw Aqualung at the Croc and he was sick as a dog, but the show was great anyway and I have been a fan since. A great musician is tested by their ability to perform despite their problems and give love to their fans.
