Eight Things

Here are the rules of engagement: Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 4 people and posts their blog names, then hopes they notice they have been tagged and continue this chain ad nauseum.

I got tagged by the woman I always smile at during meetings, so here I go!

Eight Facts and/or Habits

    1. When I was little I wanted to be a long distance trucker, deaf and/or blind, and Laura Ingalls Wilder (in that order).
    2. I’ve never played Scrabble. It didn’t start out as a thing – I just had not played the game. Once I hit 24 or so it became a thing, and even though I wouldn’t mind playing it now, I fear I’m too far behind my peers in terms of experience.
    3. I’m really uncomfortable around those futons made of unfinished wood. I have this very specific fear that I will trip over something and fall face first onto the futon frame and get my teeth stuck in the wood. I have no idea where this fear comes from other than the fact that I also hated biting down on wooden popsicle sticks as a child.
    4. I take a lot of baths. Only twice in my life have I lived in places without a bathtub and both times I was pretty miserable. I probably take a bath 3-4 nights a week – it’s how I relax and get ready to fall asleep.
    5. When I go to museums or art galleries I like to walk by myself – I get cranky when people want to walk together and look at things together. Sky calls it my survey and homing pattern – I like to get a lay of the land before I settle down to art-looking. I also like to come back and find whomever I am with and show them things. I do this in stores, too.
    6. I’ve never had a dream in which I fall — instead I’ve had dreams/nightmares in which I’m climbing or driving up a hill and the hill gets so steep (90°) that I just start rolling or sliding backwards.
    7. Eating: I can’t stand orange juice with pulp in it, just the way I get grossed out by bananas that are too soft or celery with too many strands of celery-ness. I like crispy things to be crisp.
    8. I don’t think I’ll ever get married, but I can see spending the bulk of my time with the same person — I feel about relationships the way I feel about religion – these things are personal and the whole world doesn’t need to know how you feel about them.

Okay, then. Who do I tag? How about Shelly, Mel, Zack, and Halsted?

Number 3 made me giggle profusely. Teeth stuck in wood? I had never thought of that but now that you’ve said it I will think it every time I am near a futon.

    eight things…

Okay, okay, now I’ve been tagged to do this meme too many times, and I am pretty sure that I’ve done this sort of list multiple times now, but I just discovered a bizarre pattern in my life concerning the number 8, so what the hell!
