I love my family. Among the things we have discussed in the last week (caring for dad, insurance, leaves of absence, disease, death, etc.) have been some real gems…
Jen: You know, Stephen Hawking has ALS. He got it when he was in his 20s and he’s still around. So, you know.
Dad: Do I get to be a genius if I make it past 3 years?
Jen: I’m pretty sure, yeah. You’d have to write book, though.
and…
Mom: Your dad has been reading about all of the weird toys he can buy – I think he’s actually enjoying this.
Me: *groan*
Dad (in background, gleefully yelling): This voice box has THREE settings. I can sound like a girl if I want!
Me: Do they have one that sounds like Darth Vader?
Mom: Do not get your father started…
Dad, grabbing phone from Mom: Did you say Darth Vader?
Life is settling back down to normal for me. I’ve had a cold that’s been lingering, but I think it’s finally on its way out. Sky and I went to see some Vera bands at the Capitol Hill Block Party. Some guy was hitting on me as I stood in the hot dog line (“I see someone else appreciates a good sausage and still eats meat!” “I’m getting the vegetarian one”) and Sky was watching from his Thai food line and making faces at me. We stayed to see Spoon play but left after a few songs because it was so loud and beery.
This blog make look wacky or different for a few days as I’m using it to test out different themes for a work thing. I think that’s all for now.
Oh, I almost forgot! Today was my anniversary with my partner, the Seattle Public Library. I made everyone at work celebrate by eating saltwater taffy and telling me how wonderful I am. Only half of that last sentence is true.
