Handsome GusOriginally uploaded by jentifer
I had to rush Gus to the emergency vet this afternoon – he was having trouble peeing and was making sad kitty sounds. He had a blockage and it’s a good thing I did the rushing because he was in pretty bad shape by the time we got there – they anesthetized him right away. They ran some tests and it’s not a worst case scenario – they think he just needs some medications once he’s recovered.
He’s currently hooked up to IVs and cathedars and other implements of torture – they said they have to keep him for a few days. I’m going to be in Memphis this weekend for a wedding and we have to leave him in the hands of the good vet people. Hopefully by the time we return he will be close to good-as-new. Think good thoughts, cat loving friends.
The vet ladies said “Ohh he’s handsome!” and I said “I know.” Maybe I can talk them into making him their poster cat to offset the vet bill?

September 8, 2007Aw, poor Mr. Gus. The exact same thing happened with one of our cats, Little Evel–blockage, trip to the emergency vet, etc. His case actually sort of was the worst case scenario, but he made it okay after surgery and is now doing fine. I will definitely send all my best kitty energy Gus’ way.
