I hope you read me via RSS, otherwise you’re probably sick to death of me changing the look of this site every few weeks (days/minutes). But I think I’m done, now. It’s easy to read, sleek, and there’s a picture of a girl in her lingerie: I think I have met all of my design goals.
Speaking of women in lingerie — I’m reading a very addictive book right now, Belle de Jour: Diary of an Unlikely Call Girl by the insanely prolific author Anonymous. Anonymous dishes up her experiences living as a high class hooker in London; the book started out as a blog (http://belledejour-uk.blogspot.com/) which I spent many an hour reading. Next came this book, which I meant to pick up but somehow forgot about for a year or two, and now it appears there is even a television show in the works? From her website:
Secret Diary of a Call Girl
The show, based on the book, based on the blog, based on the life – starting 27 September on ITV2
Apparently there’s a sequel to the book I’m tearing through right now, which I’m sure I’ll add to my holds queue at some point. I’m always thrilled when good writers get the chance to jump from screen to paper. That’s what Anonymous is, after all, a good writer. Sure, her topic is salacious and her life is full of juicy (ahem) stories, but these would all be lost if dear Anonymous weren’t able to put pen to paper, fingers to keyboard, and relate them with well picked words.
Do you want to know how I (re)found this book? I know you do. It’s because I was intent on finding a lukewarmly recommended book called Sin in the Second City (about a charmingly named brothel – the Everleigh Club – in turn of the century Chicago). I couldn’t get my hands on that book right away, but I still felt like I was in the mood for prostitution, so I moseyed on over to the 306.74209 area of our handy DDC and found this little gem sporting a picture of fishnetted legs and an overly filigreed title graphic.
Do I need a new subject heading for my blog? Prostitution? I guess I’ll wait to see if these other books pan out to decide if I want to expand my classification system. It’s the prudent thing to do.

October 18, 2007What about making a classification of the DDC numbers? that way you can be VERY librarian like, and break all records
