Yesterday I had the day off, and boy did I need it. I had my monthly massage booked for 9am, and it was fantastic as usual. I can’t tell you how great it’s been to finally have insurance that covers bodywork. A monthly massage has done wonders as far as keeping me healthy – flushing my body of toxins, relieving the buildup of muscle tension, and making me more aware of how my body functions has been so beneficial.

After my massage, I met up with Sky for a delicious breakfast of vegetarian biscuits and gravy @ Glo’s. After that I gave him a lift to work and meandered over to the Aveda Institute to get my eyebrows wrangled. On an off chance that they had a cancellation, I inquired about a facial appointment. I’d never had one before and I felt like turning my day off into an extravaganza. My nice student lady had time so I got the hour long facial. Man. An Aveda facial is closer to a massage than anything else – you get your feet bathed and massaged, your hands, back, neck and scalp massaged, as well as the face stuff. The face stuff was also amazing – it was so interesting to learn about my skin. I never knew I had dry skin, but now that I put all kinds of moisturizing gunk on my face it feels NICE.

I don’t think I’ll ever be someone who gets regular facials (I mean c’mon, I still insist on cutting my own hair at home), but once in awhile they are defintely an amazing relaxing thing to do. I think when Jaime visits I’ll make her go with me.

After the day of relaxation, Sky and I visited with delightful friends who have a cozy couch and even cozier cats. Perfect ending to a nearly perfect day!

Sounds like a lovely day. I think I need one of those “days of pampering” here very soon. Maybe Monday… ~sigh~ :)
