The Big News™

(This is crossposted to my blog @ http://www.librarisaurus.net which I update a lot more often than this LJ)

Sky and I have found the most perfect (for us) place to move into, and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s all very serendipitous because the place we got is a little house that I have walked/driven by a million times, and I’ve always been in love with it. I’ve called it “our house” for months now. They put out a FOR RENT sign a few days ago and we jumped on it. It’s a commercial space so it’s going to be live/work — Sky will be able to do his welding and carpentry, and we may try and build out a darkroom for me!

We will definitely have a gallery of some sort since we’ve got the space. If anyone reading this would like to show their work or has artistic friends – we’d love to have you show in our little abode. If you know any local graffiti artists, I’d love to be in contact, too: we’ve got a big white wall that gets tagged occasionally and I think having 1 or 2 artists cover the wall would deter lame “quickie” tagging.

I’ll post some pictures soon. We’ve got plenty of time to get moved in and settled – it all worked out so nicely. The space is totally raw and part of what’s so exciting is the chance to make it what we want – I’m looking forward to weekends spent in painting overalls, covered with sawdust!

That sounds like a great place!

Word of warning about the graffiti–City of Seattle has a rule against it. They might make you paint over any graffiti art, even if you asked for it to be put there. I know a place on Cap Hill that used to have a cool graffiti clown coming out of a rip in the wall. City made them cover it up :(

Hooray! Getting what you wanted anyhow is the best thing ever. We got our apartment because our friends lived in the complex and we said, “we are looking for a place exactly like yours,” and they said, “well you should rent the empty unit across the hall then,” and we did. It was a good decision.
