Good News Item #1

My dad saw some more doctors last month and they decided he didn’t have ALS; instead, he had a blockage and damage to his spinal cord. They operated on him on Friday and he made it though the surgery with flying colors. He’s recuperating now and we’ll find out soon how much the surgery was able to help. The initial hope is that my dad will remain as he is now: wheelchair bound but able to use his upper body fairly well; there is a very slight chance that damage could actually be reversed and that he will one day be able to walk, but I’m trying not to pin too much on that. I’m just happy he’s OK and that he won’t be kicking off his mortal coil anytime soon.
