Shock and Awe

So in an attempt to create a new blog (for our home improvement adventures) I ended up deleting this blog. Whoopsie Daisy! At first I got cranky with myself for being careless about sharing MySQL databases and creating symbolic links, but then I stepped back and realized that I was thinking about databases and symbolic links! I hadn’t thought about those things in a concrete way since before grad school, which was really exciting.

I figured out how to get shell access to my domain and then went crazy moving things around and restoring my database and VIOLA! All my posts and data were saved. It was like magic! It was great to be away from this kind of work for long enough that I could really appreciate my efforts yet still remember enough to fix the broken things.

Sky is snoring and the cats are perched on the bookcase looking out at the really cold city. We picked up an amazing 1950s Hotpoint fridge yesterday – it looks perfect with the Frigidaire Flair. Pretty soon we’ll be able to paint!
