I visited with my folks, my sister and her husband, and my grandparents down in Oregon over the weekend, and spent Christmas Eve and day with Sky’s family on the island. It was a full and good time, highlighted by a lot of really amazing food, sweets, and wine. I think I’m fine with salads and water for at least a month.
The house is coming along nicely – we almost have our kitchen. Right now I’m up at the old apartment, taking in the sunset view one last time – we’re both going to miss this immensely.
I’m excited for the New Year. Work has been going really well – I got a bit of a promotion in terms of hours, so I’ll be full-time now, which is excellent. Before that went through, I applied for another full-time position, which I’ll be interviewing for in early January. I’m excited about this because both jobs being equal in terms of pay, I’ll really be able to asses the possible new position and see if it’s a good match for me instead of feeling forced into it because it is more hours. It’s a win-win situation, and that’s super good.
I think 2008 is going to see a lot more in terms in traveling and visiting. Our new place has room for visitors, and my schedule is more consistent now, meaning we can plan weekend jaunts. I need to get down to San Francisco so I can eat some Sacripantina and samusa soup with loved ones. I also want to (finally) see New York with Sky as my expert guide.
I’m also pretty excited about going out more often — we live a short walk away from a few clubs and I’d like to go to more shows. There’s an 80s night at CHAC that would be a lot of fun, and there’s no excuse when the club is right outside of your door.
I’ll probably fill out that ‘Year in Review’ survey/meme like I’ve done every year for the last few years – I’ll have to think about my answers while I’m at the laundromat this afternoon.
