The following events led up to this update on Livejournal:
1. my hard drive died
2. I got a new hard drive
3. I reinstalled software, including the new version of Firefox
4. I spiffied up my copy of Firefox w/ extensions, including Fast Dial
5. Once I had my favorite bookmarks looking me in the face each time I opened the browser, I quickly got sick of the sight of my LJ friend’s page as it was
6. Needing a mental break after a particularly loud gaming session at the library this afternoon, I decided to change my LJ layout
7. While on LJ, I figured I might as well write a post
So let’s see. The last time I wrote on here was in the wake of my foot stabbing — lovely. My foot is healed quite nicely now. I still have no sensation in much of the top of my foot, but that’s fine. I’d rather that than have it hurt! I do have a weird little mouth-like scar that Sky likes to prod when I’m not looking and we are on the couch reading. It feels weird when someone touches it, kind of shivery.
The foot injury left me so antsy to be active (I couldn’t really walk more than a few blocks for a good two months or so) that once I was healed I joined a gym and I’ve been going now for a little over a month. I love it. I always had myself figured for a yoga girl, and although I do love relaxation and meditation, I’ve found that sweating like hell and wearing myself out works better for relieving stress and making my body feel good.
In other arenas, life is going along swimmingly. I’ve seen Jaime a lot this past month due to two Seattle visits, which has been awesome. I had a vacation around my birthday time and did plenty of vegging and garden watering. For the 4th we’re heading down a friend’s canyon with 6 other adults and a very cute baby – should be good times.

June 26, 2008Welcome back to LJ-land…it seems to be less active these days (make way for Facebook), but it’s still a star to me.
What kind of gym are you visiting? There’s not too many buff guys and overly-made-up girls?

June 26, 2008I go to the Gold’s Gym because it’s cheap and because it’s across the street from work/close to my house. It’s so easy to go when it’s right on your way home.
It’s strange — gyms always intimidated me for those very reasons (buff guys, overly-made-up girls) but really it’s people of all shapes and ages, just focusing on what they are doing/in their own worlds. I actually love it because of that: just turn on my iPod and zone out…

June 26, 2008forgot to tell you
Hi there. This comment has nothing to do with your post, but it reminds me that I forgot to email you. Did you know that Wilbur from Rancho Mirage passed away? I think you worked with him, right?
Apparently he had melanoma, and the dermatologist removed some, but it came back and spread. I believe there was an obituary in The Desert Sun.
Sorry for the bad news. –S

Yeah, Mel emailed me when it happened
BTW: Shelly, meet Mel. Mel, meet Shelly. You guys are both librarians living in Palm Springs!
