Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)

The Kid, Etta, and Butch

The Kid, Etta, and Butch

We saw this as part of Nothwest Film Forum’s “69″ series of movies made in, you guessed it, 1969. Sky had never seen this, and I’d only seen it on a small screen. They had a film copy and it was excellent on a real screen! Some movies don’t live up to their legendary status (or hype) but this is not one of them.

This movie makes me ache with a longing to be making out with Paul Newman or Robert Redford. This is important, because growing up all my aunts or my mom or older women talked about was the hotness of these men and as a kid I just didn’t get it. Now I get it. Man, do I get it. This movie also appeals to my Wild West fixation. When I was a little girl I wanted to be a cowboy first and a lady truck driver second. I still haven’t gotten over the cowboy thing, and I can live vicariously through this movie. Also it’s a great friendship flick with a great sense of humor and one of the most perfect endings in film. If you haven’t seen it before, I highly, highly recommend it.
