Wedding Shoe Fantasy League

Wedding Shoe Fantasy League

I’m a wood clog wearing, heels hating kind of gal. Scratch that: I love heels but they don’t love me. I have one or two pairs I can wear for a few hours, but that’s it. My ankles are super wobbly and unless they’re very sturdy, heels are just a recipe for disaster.

Still, they are beautiful.

We’re having a low key wedding and I’m resisting the urge to buy expensive accessories simply because OH MY GOD IT’S MY WEDDING MY ONE SPECIAL DAY FOREVER. I’m trying not to buy anything I can’t wear again (including my wedding dress – I’d like to be able to embroider it and wear it later on). So I’m passing on all of the lovely, lovely shoes that would look amazing with my dress. But I can’t just ignore these beautiful creatures, so I’m sharing them here. We’ll just call it my shoe fantasy league, like when people make up their pretend football team.

Kate Spade "Billie"

Miu Miu Glitter and Suede Pump

Kate Spade "New York Dreamer"

Valentino Bow Trim Peeptoe

Kate Spade "Karolina"

For the record, these are the shoes I’m 80% likely to wear — I bought them a few months ago and I’ve worn them for long periods of time to make sure they are comfy. They are high but feel solid and supportive, and the straps are really soft and don’t chafe or constrict one bit. The dove grey is much lovelier and subtle in person.

Dolce Vita "Pela"

The other 20% chance will most likely be something I pick up that strikes my fancy, like these sweet little lemon yellow numbers…

I KNOW. Aren’t they lovely? They’re just $595, no bigs.

Bring a pair of comfy flip flops anyway :) I got cheapo shoes from David’s bridal and had them dyed turquoise, and put padded leopard print insoles in ‘em cause my dress was tea length and I wanted fun shoes. They were hellishly uncomfortable (long story about them screwing up the dye job on a pair that WAS comfortable and replacing them with a pair that was not). I only wore them for the ceremony and the first dance. The rest of the time – it was my vibram flip flops which are not pretty, but I also didn’t care.

The beauty of a wedding in the middle of nowhere at a lake is that I can hop over to my cabin and change into slippers whenever I feel like it! In fact I’m pretty sure the whole “wearing the dress & fancy stuff” is going to last half the day or less :P

The only heels I can wear are Beautifeel shoes. They feel like slippers but they may not have a style you like.

Oh I like those Victorian bootie style ones! A bit pricey but I could use some slipper like shoes for work.

So much depends on the dress, but those Valentinos are absolutely lovely. The Miu Mius are phenomenal as well, but in a whole different way. Even though my heels were pretty, yet reasonably comfy dirt-cheap Payless numbers, I was so glad I wore my comfy running shoes before the ceremony and after the reception was over. Your real shoes are cute, too!

Thanks – I think the grey ones will be pretty and solid and will make my legs look less drawfy with a poofy dress on. We’ll see!

I have a few pairs of Kate Spade shoes, and they are some of the most comfortable heels I own. And I have been lusting after the Karolina.

Yeah, I have a pair of KS flats and they are comfy. I’m just afraid of spraining my ankle like the klutz that I am

just got back from shoe shopping and found a pair of shoes that just made me think “Jen.” Mostly cause I plan on wearing them to your wedding. Though my whole getup will be Jen-esque.

I can’t wait to see your Jenesque getup! Also can’t wait to see you, period. Sky and I keep talking about how we’d get married every year if it meant getting all of our favorite people in one place like this – it’s so rad.

I like the lemon yellow for your wedding. Though I would really want the gray ones ’cause I would wear them all the time, if I didn’t have horrible ankles too.
