Here’s what I wrote about Lola when I first got her in Palm Springs, in February 2005:
My new cat, named Lola (but thanks for the suggestions!), eats like a horse. She also runs like a horse, snores like a horse, and jumps like one. Or a tiger? Something wild. She woke me at 4am by jumping on my chest and emitting a low, guttural growl, the hair on her back standing up in a mohawk. I thought she was going to eat me but then saw the shadow of a fellow tenant pass by my window. It was the harmless lady next door (doing what, I’ve no idea), but it’s good to know Lola will throw down if anyone tries to mess with us. I feel safe. I would not want to fight with her. She’s all fur and muscle. And claws. Oh and a I guess a good percentage of tail: it’s pretty long.
She’s still insane. And I still love her the most. We have nice times in the morning when I’m waking up and she curls up alongside of me and licks my fingers. Congratulations on your honor, Lola!

November 10, 2011Cute Site! I know a certain Oscar-cat that is much fatter than when you knew him who is happily following the cat of the week.

November 10, 2011Hi Erin! I will definitely put Oscar in the queue. I’ve got some good photos of him in his svelte youth

November 29, 2011My 2 year old daughter’s alter ego is a cat named Lola. Not sure where she came up with the name, but it is an excellent one for a cat. I have been coerced into making up many songs about kitties named Lola, so if your cat ever needs to be serenaded, I am fully prepared.

November 29, 2011So giving of you, Robin!
I sing songs to Lola and Gus a lot, but never remember them for next time. Maybe I should start carrying around a tiny tape recorder so the gems aren’t lost forever.
